Company History
ABC Cutting Contractors, Inc.
opened for business in April 1985. Gary Hill and Mark Hege started this
operation with the assistance of Larry McCoy, (cousin to Gary Hill), owner
of ABC Cutting Contractors, Inc. in Pompano Beach, Florida. The business
was started with an office in Columbus, Indiana where Mark and Gary live.
It is a family owned business with Gary being Mark’s father-in-law; Mark
is married to Tammy, Gary’s daughter. Gary and Mark received “hands on”
training at the Florida office with Mark receiving additional on the job
training on a major Panama Canal project. Bill Runion, joined his
brother-in-law and father-in-law, in 1986 as a partner. Gary has since
retired from the company.
The first “employee” was hired in
1987. A new building was built in Indianapolis in 1988, which enabled the
company to better serve the state and utilize a larger facility to
compensate for the business growth. Since the move to Indianapolis, this
business has grown to employ over 40 and serve not only the state of
Indiana, but also surrounding states as contracts were awarded. In 2001,
the company again moved to a larger facility next-door and gained three
times more space. ABC Indiana is affiliated with other ABC offices in
Florida, Alabama, and Georgia, but is separately owned.
